The New York Giants had one of the best pregame presentations of the season Monday night. Unfortunately for them, that was one of a just a few highlights.
The Giants’ struggles continued, as the Indianapolis Colts came into MetLife Stadium and hammered the Giants 40-24, handing New York its third straight loss. It was a disappointing performance for the Giants on a night that featured so much pomp and circumstance.
The festivities started early with a stirring rendition of the national anthem. Chris Botti took the stage with his trumpet in front of a giant American flag behind and played one of the best national anthems we’ve heard in a long time.
For some, the anthem was more moving than others. Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne was moved to tears as Botti hit the home stretch.
That’s pretty awesome. What’s even more awesome, though, was Wayne’s explanation for the tears.
One person who won’t be poking fun at Wayne is Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno. The former Denver Bronco wrote the book on crying during the anthem when he had the waterworks flowing during “The Star-Spangled Banner” last season.
