Christmas season church events

Area Christmas church services and events:

Edgewood Baptist Church at 476 Edgewood Church Road, Mebane, will present a live Nativity Scene from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 6 and 7. Join them with live camels on a journey through Jerusalem to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

    First Baptist Church of Graham invites the community to hear The Seasoned Singers of the church as they present The Christmas Story in Carols and Poetry at 6 p.m. on Dec. 7.   A Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service will be held at the church at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 24.

    First United Methodist Church of Graham, 303 N. Main St., will be the host church as a musical presentation, featuring the combined choirs of First United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church, present the 25th annual Community Festival of Carols at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14.

Shiloh Presbyterian Church at 2638 Grand Oakes Blvd. in Burlington will be cloaked in silence as darkness falls on Dec. 22. A light reveals the small stable with a tiny baby and his parents, surrounded by animals and shepherds, wise men and angels. You may drive through without leaving your car and enjoy a wonderful re-enactment of the event. Bring the children and anyone who would enjoy the free event. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 23.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 712 S. Williamson Avenue, Burlington, will present a live drive-through Nativity on Dec. 5 and 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. each night.

The First Presbyterian Church, 508 W. Davis St., Burlington, has scheduled the following Christmas services.

On Sunday, Dec. 7, A Children’s Christmas Service will be held at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary.

A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will be held in the sanctuary at 5 p.m. on Dec. 14, with a string quintet, harp and organ, the 52nd year the service of scripture and carols has been presented by the congregation. A prelude of carols for handbells, strings and harp will begin at 4:30 p.m. Nursery provided.

A live drive-through Nativity will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 17.

A Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service will be held from 5:30 to 11 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Grove Park Baptist Church, 108 Trail One, Burlington, December worship opportunities:

Dec. 7 at 6 p.m., Hanging of the Green service and Christmas Magic in the Fellowship Hall with refreshments.

Dec. 14 at 11 a.m., Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Ingathering; White Christmas with young musicians and Melody Makers at 6 p.m.

Dec. 21 at 6 p.m., a presentation by the Sanctuary Choir.

Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church, 1106 E. Morehead St., Burlington:

A Christmas musical/drama, “The First Noel,” will be presented Dec. 21 at 3 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Come early and enjoy free cookies, punch and hot apple cider.

Kidz Christmas Program, “Fact or Fiction” will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 14.

Springwood Presbyterian Church, 1422 Brittney Land (Springwood Church Road Extension), Burlington/Whitsett:

Advent worship services will be held Dec. 7, 14 and 21 at 11 a.m.

The Children’s Christmas Pageant is Sunday, Dec. 21 at 4 p.m., followed by a time of fellowship in the fellowship hall.

On Christmas Eve at 7 p.m., everyone is welcome to the family-friendly Candlelight/Communion service.

Agape Baptist Church at 1451 Mebane Oaks Road, Mebane, will hold a Candlelight Christmas Eve Service at 8 p.m. on Dec. 24.

   Burlington Assembly will sponsor a Christmas Holiday Concert featuring Ivan Parker on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Burlington Christian Academy Gym, 821 Tucker St., Burlington. Advance tickets, $15; at the door, $20. Special music at 6:30 p.m.; refreshments provided.

    First United Methodist Church, 1630 Westbrook Ave., Elon, Christmas events include:

    On Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m., the First School Christmas Pageant.

   Sunday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m., Chancel Choir and orchestra will present the Christmas Cantata, “Darkness into Light.”

   Wednesday, Dec. 24 from 7 to 8 p.m., Family friendly Christmas Eve Service. Children are welcome in their PJs.

   The First Baptist Church of Mebane will present its annual Christmas Cantata on Sunday, Dec. 14 at the 11 a.m. service in the sanctuary. The service is devoted to a musical rendition of the Christmas story, and is a yearly tradition at the church.

   The 45-minute performance of “We’re Glad You Came” includes 35 voices and a full band. The community is invited to the celebration.

    Bethany Presbyterian Church, 1500 S. Main St., Graham, will present a Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, music of English composers from medieval to present, at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14.
